How We Home: Unique Headboards // Carved Indian Doors
In our opinion, headboards are usually the main focal piece of a bedroom. It is a great way to express your personal style in a grand way and can set the tone for the rest of the room. While we don’t mind spending hours at a time researching for the perfectly curated items, we do understand that others may not share our excitement in that regard. Finding a headboard that works best for you doesn’t have to be an overwhelming or even expensive task. In our new series, we are taking a look at the many different ways you can create your own unique headboard style!
When our founder, Lauren, is styling a bedroom, she is always on the lookout for unique pieces that stand out. While browsing through an antique shop, Lauren found a pair of carved Indian doors and knew that they would be the perfect headboard for the master bedroom she was designing. She loved the intricate carving details paired with the hammered metal accents. Below you can see what they looked like in the antique shop.
Using unique pieces can require some modifications, but with a little creativity and power tools, nothing can keep you from achieving your vision. The carved doors were too short for the head of the bed, however, Lauren hired craftsmen to attach legs to the doors. From there, the doors were then fixed to the wall and a beautifully unique headboard was completed! Set in a bedroom that contrasts rich textures and cool neutrals tones, the headboard is a piece that both stands out and flows in seamlessly.
