We pride ourselves on collecting handmade pieces that you won’t find anywhere else, designing original products with our artisan partners, and seeking out vintage items showing the wear of time.

Our style is colorful, layered and globally infused. Inspired by the patterns, colors and textures found in cultures around the world, our lifestyle products are handmade by our network of global artisan partners.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Travel Patterns was founded in 2014 by interior designer Lauren Petersen. Mixing old with new, her design philosophy is that interiors should feel well-travelled and be filled with story. She is inspired by dynamic spaces, layered with color and pattern, and is always in search of a special secondhand item or artisan-made piece.

She created Travel Patterns after her friends continued to fall in love with the handcrafted items she brought back from her travels abroad. Each piece sparked deeper conversations about traditional handicrafts and artisans she met during her journeys. The passion she felt discovering talented artisans while exploring our world, felt like something that could be universally shared and celebrated within her Huntsville community.

After years of hosting local pop up events to sell her travel finds, she opened the flagship Travel Patterns shop in the Spring of 2021. Her goal - to be THE local destination for global inspiration in our beloved and growing city.

In addition to running the Huntsville retail shop, she is a nationally certified interior designer (NCIDQ) and head of Lauren Petersen Design. She currently resides in downtown Huntsville with her husband and adorable toddler whom you can usually find rearranging the shop each afternoon.
