Letters From Lauren: What's In A Name
HELLO THERE!
The term “travel patterns” is known in the research world as the outcome of a study on the travel behaviors and movements of people -- where they go and what draws them to those destinations. My travel patterns have led me to explore our world, to adventure near and far, and to interact with people who are different from me. The connections I’ve made have helped me reflect, question, and understand who I am created to be, how I desire to live, and how I want to empower that same thing in others.
I started my small business journey in 2014, but after only a couple of years I felt as though my dreams exceeded my current business model. I wanted to build a company on connection, partnership, courage, and empowerment. I desired that every stitch woven into our products would pay tribute to the artisans who made it, and to support their craft, their livelihood, and ultimately their communities. I dreamed that by weaving the stories of the people and places that inspire me into the very threads of the products, I could create a greater connection between the makers and those who are purchasing the items. I also hoped that these products and stories could inspire more journeys. In 2016 I officially rebranded and there really was no better name for our company than Travel Patterns.
One beautiful truth I’ve learned is that no matter how unique each and every one of us is around the world, we all share common threads that connect us together. These threads, while sometimes messy and hard to distinguish, are a part of a beautiful display. Without one thread, the tapestry of our world would be missing a vital, vibrant hue.
So let’s be encouraged to explore our greatest potential right now. Let’s not be afraid to step out in courage and follow the dreams that terrify but excite us. Let’s join together to celebrate the beauty we see in the people and places around us. Whether your own travel patterns take you to the other side of the world or the other side of your neighborhood, we hope that you are inspired to take heart and take flight on your own adventures.
I can’t wait to see what we can discover together, how we will grow and what great things we will do when we step out with bravery while on our journeys.
Take Heart, Take Flight!
