PATTERN STORY - COLOTENANGO
Colotenango is a mountain village close to the Guatemala-Mexico border, and the inspiration for our pattern with its namesake. The textiles from this region are recognizable by the use of maroon, red and orange linear designs. The intermingling stripes are splashed with an array of colorful geometric shapes, which are created using a shuttle-weaving technique resulting in intricate brocaded details that draw you deeper into this traditional design.
Not only is our Colotenango Collection the hardest to pronounce, it’s the most complicated to weave. Our weaving partners from Pixan employ one hundred and seventy incredibly talented weavers, but less than ten of those weavers can craft the brocaded details from the region that inspired this pattern.
