Behind the Seams: Before & Afters of the Brick & Mortar Shop

Our brick and mortar shop has been open for almost a month now and we thought it would be fun to share some before and after pictures.

When our founder, Lauren, started looking for a location for the brick and mortar, she knew that she wanted to keep it close to home -- literally! It was important to Lauren and her husband to invest into this community as it begins the revitalization process. After several months of research she found our building, an old bank built in the 1960’s, which happens to be in the same neighborhood that Lauren lives in. She had driven past this building almost every day for years but never imagined that one day it could be Travel Patterns.

Though the location was perfect, our little building needed quite a bit of work. Once the lease was signed, the renovation began. The original configuration of the building was less than ideal for a retail store, however, within a matter of months the walls and ceiling disappeared, carpeting was removed, and paint was on. Adding a cash wrap, antique furniture, and of course our beautiful products makes for a completed shop!

In the few weeks that we have been open, we have seen our little store literally become “The Shop Around the Corner”. The people of the neighborhood have been such a beautiful part of our store’s location. We love having friends -- new and old -- come in to visit, shop, and connect with others in the community!

One feature of our store that we are excited about is that we are in the middle of the Lincoln Mill district of Huntsville. This up-and-coming district is already home to our friends at Preservation Company, Holtz Leather, Brooks & Collier, L’Etoile Pâtisserie, Robyn’s Garden, and Mad Malts Brewery to name a few. We are also very excited about the new project development coming to Lincoln Mill and can’t wait to support the coming businesses, restaurants and shops!
